Colorado Gives – Tommy B: The Marvelous Mini

Tommy B, a 25-year-old Miniature Horse, was in rough shape when he first arrived at The Urban Farm in 2016. His former owners sold their property and left Tommy B behind. It took several months for the new property owners to move in and that is when they discovered this little horse abandoned in the barn. Luckily, Tommy B was resourceful and resilient as he managed to find enough food and water to sustain himself.

The individuals that found Tommy B wanted to keep and care for him. However, all of their other horses were much larger than Tommy B and he was getting picked on. He needed a home where he could live with horses his own size, so he was brought to The Urban Farm.

After providing him with a proper diet and lots of dental work, Tommy B is able to enjoy life with his friends Monte and Pepe — they are miniature horses just like him! Tommy B loves being pampered and luckily for him, his mane has to be brushed and trimmed on a regular basis because of how quickly it grows! He is great with kids but understandably selective when it comes to the adults. To mend this, the TUF staff works with him regularly and gives him the one-to-one attention he deserves.

Your support of The Urban Farm allows us to give all of our animals a loving home and for several of them, a second chance.

Come visit Tommy B at The Urban Farm!

FarmFest Success

Celebrating the Autumnal Equinox on September 22, our 10th Annual FarmFest was a beautiful fall day. With over 1,500 visitors, we had the opportunity to introduce our chickens, goats, cows, and other critters, as well as show off our state-of-the-art Gompers Greenhouse. The number of new families visiting the Farm for the first time was delightful. Between the hayrides, the bouncy horse, arts and crafts, and learning about the Farm’s animals and plants, it was a full day. A huge thank you to all our sponsors and vendors; you help make the day special and memorable. And a big shout-out to all our volunteers. You were welcoming, engaged, and helped bring delight to many. To all who attended, we look forward to future visits with you, whether through after school programs, field trips and community service through school, or another family day. Please come visit us again soon.

Once again THANK YOU to:
